Cbaze – Kenya’s Campus Marketplace

Cbaze – short for Comrade Baze – is a Kenyan campus-focused marketplace and listing platform built exclusively for university and college students. The platform solves a real problem in the campus economy: students have always traded among themselves, but that commerce was scattered across WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, and word of mouth. Cbaze consolidates all of it into one structured, searchable platform.

The scope covers everything students buy, sell, and need. Marketplace listings let comrades post second-hand textbooks, electronics, clothes, and household items. The housing section connects students with bedsitters, single rooms, and shared apartments near their campuses. Services listings allow students to offer skills – graphic design, tutoring, photography, coding – to their peers. An events section keeps students informed about campus and near-campus happenings.

Listings are organized by category and campus location, making it easy to find exactly what you need within your institution or in the surrounding area. The platform is designed around how comrades actually transact: mobile-first, fast-loading, and peer-to-peer with no middleman friction.

On the technical side, Cbaze runs on WordPress with a MariaDB database backend, LiteSpeed Cache for server-side performance optimization, and Cloudflare for CDN and DDoS protection – a stack chosen specifically for reliability on Kenyan mobile networks where latency and data costs matter.

The target audience is Kenya’s 500,000+ university and college student population – a digitally native, mobile-heavy demographic that is significantly underserved by mainstream classified platforms built for older audiences.
